Books You Want to See as TV Shows
–With fall TV season starting up, this seems relevant.

My T5W this week :

Let me first state that I’m so happy for this weeks topic . On one hand I love TV shows and on the other hand I love books and ergo this weeks Topic is what Joey from FRIENDS would say

Now to this week’s pick :

  • 6416196Dresden Files : So Here’s the thing Dresden Files is just made for Primetime TV . With its plot revolving around the titular Harry Dresden who’s a Wiseass, hilarious , rebel against authority Wizard working as a Private investigator and investigating special cases involving Supernatural entities . The world creation is amazing and it’s an exceptional Urban fantasy that I have found to have countless imitators as well. If you are a fan of shows such as “Supernatural” & “Grimm” or even “Once Upon a time” you’ll love this*

*full disclosure there obviously was a TV show in past that didn’t survive it’s first season but the TV show changed a lot of things from the book and the Author Jim Butcher himself was very mad and isolated himself away from the series. Infact i just saw one episode of the failed series on Youtube and man they literally changed everything that’s good about Dresden Files , even the casting is completely opposite to the portrayal of the characters in the book

  • 2913377The Kingkiller Chronicles :  Patrick Rothfus’s Kingkiller Chronicles took fantasy world by storm when it came out and it’s been listed by almost all lists of best fantasy book and there’s been news that Lionsgate are going to make a Movie/TV show and video game about the book which is basically a dark fantasy tale that has a Harry Potter-esque protagonist but a very different journey than Harry . Although I’m sure any adaptation of the masterpiece will be awesome I think a TV series would be more apt .

  • 11323604The Dune : Another Series that has had previous adaptation on TV and on Movie with the former getting more success than the latter but Dune is a Classic Fantasy/Sci-fi series and the adaptations haven’t had as much success as the series is capable of, the two adaptations appeared during an era when graphics and animation were not apt for what the story demanded that has changed now and the possibilities it presents are unbelievable . So Pray to all gods old and new that a TV show is made .

  • 944073First Law Trilogy : First Law trilogy is one of the most exciting character driven book I have ever had the pleasure to read , and thinking about it , with the success of Game of thrones First law trilogy has a fine scope to be made into a TV show with drama , magic, adventure , politics and moral ambiguity among all the characters involved, and oh of course Deaths . Heck there’s even Monsters here that show up before the white walkers ever do on Game of thrones .

  • 295Treasure Island : A classic which for the love of god i can’t believe has never been made into a TV show (at least as far as i can tell) . Treasure island is an adventurous tale that most readers know of and with likes of show such as Viking and Black sails doing so well with TV audience it’s almost a sure success if done right

      1. I hadn’t! And that’s certainly interesting! O_o I liked the question the guy asked in the end, if he and George R.R.Martin are having a contest on who finishes the book last :’).

      2. well I have finally given up on GRRM , with the show surpassing the book , I find it difficult to get excited about his future book, especially considering rumours are that winds of winter won’t come up until November 2017 and that means that the TV show would have finished another and the penultimate season

which makes you wonder whether you really want to read the books ? because of the big gasping moments and secrets are already revealed the charm has well and truly lost to me

      3. yeah, this is why I haven’t watched the last season. it’s either waiting for the book or watch it. not both. all the excitement will be gone for me as well then. Sighs.

      5. Haha! That’s priceless, getting GoT spoilers from your senior :’). But yes, it’s the only option left to discover things for yourself then. Bad GRR! I heard he’s bringing out a series of his Wild Cards anthology now…
