An Epic tale of Genius – Gardens of Moons Review (The Malazan Book of Fallen #1)

I have been trying to dodge writing an review about this book for a while because this is as per me one of the best works in fantasy to the date* and yet many people are literally scared of reading this book and many don’t even finish the first 100 pages and quit and call this one of the most over hyped book ever . If you listen to what I say , than I say that’s certainly not the case .

Ambition is not a dirty word. Piss on compromise. Go for the throat

So as I have written about¬†before I knew going into the series that the first few books will be rough , that the plot won’t be much to be raving about nor would it be something that would make reading further books sensible yet for most part I really really enjoyed the first book and I was more than willing to move onto this book , yet while it was easy to overlook flaws and appreciate the beauty of the first book , it’s equally hard to take many positives out of this one .

Untitled-1so After the 2006 Success of The Blade Itself¬†The First Law trilogy was well and truly on its way to a popular succession and so after a mere gap of 1 year came the 2nd installment in the Trilogy – Before They were Hanged , With fans waiting in anticipation to find out just how did their favourite characters fare in the next installment and with high hopes of fans and critics alike resting on the book which was following suit of probably one of the most successful Dark Character driven Fantasy book of it’s time . Many Authors in the past and present have crumpled under such anticipations and expectations , countless other Authors have managed tame follow ups but Joe Abercombie is not Just any Author .
